General Notes:
As the ‘cabrio club’ is not a formal organisation or entity, there is only one rule: It has to be a cabrio! As such, there is no obligation to follow the plan. However, to make the plan work – see and do what we all came for – some discipline and attention is required.
Everybody is invited to contribute to tour planning, even changes on the day (e.g. due to weather or a closure) will be considered. However, this must be well communicated beforehand and should not de-rail the overall tour plan.
- We will be travelling on some fairly busy highways. Traffic will not always allow us to travel in a convoy and we might not be able to wait safely at turn-offs, particularly if we are a larger group. We will catch up at designated stops. We want to travel safely, no need for risky manoeuvres for just staying together. We will wait at the next stop for a reasonable time.
- Fuel. If you need fuel, please use planned stops so the group does not need to wait.
- If we get separated, please refer to the waypoints provided in this itinerary, so please have a copy of this itinerary in your car to be able to navigate to the next stop. Please be aware that we are often taking the scenic route and not always following the most direct route. Please take note of waypoints and directions described in the tourplan. The guy in front of you might be lost….
Set your navigator to “Avoid Freeways”
- If you get delayed or lost, please let the organiser know. Also check the Whatsapp group for updates. There might be delays due to poor mobile phone reception in country regions or texting might not be possible while driving.
- Please be mindful of time at stops (including the meeting place), we might not be able to wait and you will need to catch up at the next stop. If you need fuel etc, please do not wait until the end of the stop.
- Stated travel times are from Google maps, they are indicative only and are net driving time and do not include any stops… I’ve tried to make good for this in the overall planning.
This itinerary outlines the framework; the rest is improvisation on the day and we want to leave room for lots of fun! As with all the other tours, there is a chance that not everything will go exactly to plan; this is part of the “adventure” we are looking for.
- Opening hours and other information might have changed since planning, and we know that the internet is not always accurate. If there are surprises, we will deal with them on the day.
If there are changes, we will (depending on reception) leave an update message in the WhatsApp group. As such it is important to stay in contact, so you are updated if the plan changes for whatever reason.
- RSVP – we try to keep things flexible, however it is often necessary to book in advance and plan according to group size. A ‘no – thanks’ is an acceptable response (although I prefer an enthusiastic ‘yes’), however no response is not helpful. Where we organise tickets etc., please RSVP by the date requested, stating how many people participating. We might not be able to accommodate late responses.
